Opossums are mammals that have a
pouch much like a kangaroo. And once the little ones are born, they grip onto
moms fur and make their way to the pouch to nurse. Where they stay for a
minimum of seven weeks and even up to four months. During that time they tend to
venture out onto the mothers back where they hold on while she does her nightly
rounds. The baby Opossums return to the pouch regularly until they are fully
main diet consists of grubs, rodents, trash, love to eat bugs, and insects.
These critters dig up our lawns
and flower beds. They tear off siding, and enter our houses either through
openings they have made themselves, or ones that the builder left open.
The fleas and ticks they harbor,
carry harmful parasites and disease. They tend to make homes in our
attics and under our houses. When under the house, the Opossums tend to live up
inside bathtubs. They bring in large amounts of trash and other debris.
Opossums are the
Oscar the Grouch™ of the wildlife kingdom. While in
the attic or under the house the urine, feces, and left over meals can build up
and cause a great stench.
